There’s a convenient way for bird lovers to note the birds they see and play a part in conservation – using the BirdLasser app.
You can download the BirdLasser app to your cellphone.
The app provides an easy and intuitive interface for you to note down bird sightings, and add other important information, such as where you spotted the birds, the numbers of birds you saw, and what they were up to. For the Overberg Crane Group, we’re interested in your sightings of the threatened big birds in our region, like the Blue Crane, Denham’s Bustards, the korhaans, Secretarybirds, Cape Vultures, Black Harriers, African Marsh Harriers and the larger eagles, such as the Martial Eagle.
We can then use your information to help conserve these threatened birds. It’ll help us to know which areas should be protected (like wetlands and breeding sites) and it will help us monitor bird populations. It’s also a great tool for bird lovers to keep accurate records of your sightings. For more info, visit: www.birdlasser.com
