The Overberg Crane Group (OCG) celebrated its seven-year partnership with Barton Wines. On Friday 6 September 2013 the Crane Group’s Malcolm Gordon officially handed over an OCG certificate of recognition to Barton Wines’ Wine Maker PJ Geyer.

Barton Wines, a winery based close to Hermanus, initially approached the Crane Group for assistance in 2006 on how it could care for its nesting cranes. At the time, Crane Group staff visited the sites and offered advice on crane management.

This subsequently developed into a partnership through which the organisations support each other. Barton Wines contributes a portion of its annual sales to the OCG. The winery, which uses a Blue Crane as its logo, also promotes the OCG on its wine labels.

For its continued support throughout the years, the OCG wishes to thank Barton Wines for its commitment to crane conservation. We look forward to a long and prosperous relationship.
